Capoeira mestre calango was nice enough to do a couple of short recordings on the berimbau for me. A berimbau is a one stringed instrument with the string made from the inside liner of a truck tire, it has a claxia(sp?) a shaker with it and is modulated by placing the gourd against the stomach and removing it. Done with hdp2 and two sennheiser mics 66 67, was in 24 bit 96khz, downconverted to 16b at 44. 1, a relatively clean recording at a very high level.

This is a recording i made using my tascam dr-40 field recorder. Used the xy pattern, no post-processing, just some edits to cut off unwanted noise, wind puffs and stuff. While the language spoken in the clip is slovak, it's impossible to pick out any indivdiual conversations, so this could be used as background noise in any project. Afternoon ocean waves, recorded atop of some rocks with a tascam dr-40x. Taken around sandy point bird sanctuary in west haven connecticut on may 20, 2022. Unprocessed, straight 45 minutes of audio. Recording of my own fireplace made with a tascam dr-40 (internal mics). I blasted up the lower freqs, kept the mid-range close to 0, then from 5-16 khz went back way up, slowly tapering down to below zero for the highest frequencies. All editing done in audacity, compressed using soundkonverter in linux. This is a good sound effect for either a bonfire or a house burning down, which is what i made it for.

Very high velocity stroke with 5a wooden mallet in paiste pst3 20" crash on stand. Recorded with pair of akg p120 mics on stands and tascam dr-60 mkii recorder. Middle-side recording technique. Middle mic next to crash, side mic in a distance of 1m. Recorded in tiny kitchen with doors closed. Few ringing partials were tamed with parametric equalizer. Sound faded out in flstudio edison.
